Hello Mr.rahul

I found you from drupal website from your module and i wish you to help me
I'm using drupal since few months but I'v got problem with files folder permission: because my host is in shared host and I dont have access to ssh or some thing like that
the problem is drupal cannot move or upload or create folders and files in files directory because he have no permission to files
e.g.. when I want to upload file with date path he can not create folders /image/2009/11/1/mypic.jpg
I try to change permission from my Cpanel but Drupal prevent me
I search in drupal website but I didn't find any good solution
I read these node but i don`t find solution
http://drupal.org/node/34025
http://drupal.org/node/34028

Hi ayalsule, probably a better place for asking this question could have been this blog entry:

In particular, check the following comment, regarding using my module:

It would have helped people googling out find the answer quicker. Anyways, regarding your problem, the first thing to see is who created the files folder for Drupal:

  1. If you created it from CPanel, I dont see any reason why you cant change permissions for it using CPanel.
  2. If Drupal created it, in that case Drupal should BE ABLE to create files & folders in that directory.

You can try the following steps now:

  1. Change Drupal files directory to something else, let's say
    sites/default/files1

If Drupal can create this directory, it should be able to write to it. Now try uploading a file using Drupal. If this works, the problem is resolved.
  2. Try using my module. Download the Take Control project from drupal.org, and follow the steps mentioned in the above blog entry to configure permissions for the files directory.

If the problem still persists, reply back here detailing the error messages you received in either Step 1 or Step 2 or both above.
